THINGS TO DO IN MANILA

1. RIDE A JEEPNEY
The best way to save on transportation expenses is to know how to ride the jeepney.
Minimum fare is just Php 8.00. 




2. DO YOUR OWN CHINATOWN WOK TOUR
Savor the gastronomic delights as you walk through the streets of Chinatown.
There is one Chinatown in every country. What makes ours different is that it is the oldest, according to the Lonely Planet.

a. Quick Snack- Chinese food with Indonesian influence

b. Sincerity Cafe Try their Kiampung and Oyster Cake

d. Xiao Chun Yuan Specialty shop where their soups are aphrodisiac and medicinal

e. Salido  House specialty Ta Sio (pork asado roasted in pugod), Tsami (hookien stir fried Pansit), Sam Puc Pue. Siphoned Coffee is also worth trying

3. WATCH A COCKFIGHT
If Spain has bullfighting, the Philippines has cockfighting. The best place to watch it is Pasay Cockpit Manila which is located at 168 Arnaiz Avenue Pasay City.

4. WATCH A BASKETBALL GAME
While the rest of the world is crazy over football, Filipinos are gaga over basketball.

5. VISIT INTRAMUROS  A "walled"  historical place in the city dating back to the 16th century.





6. HAVE A CHINESE CEMETERY TOUR Something interesting and bizarre




7. RIDE A KALESA  A horse-drawn carriage, a relic from the Spanish era.





8. TAKE ESKRIMA LESSONS  The Filipino Martial Arts which is the newly declared national sport. There is free  Eskrima lesson at Uuniversity of Philippines Diliman every Sunday. 


9. WATCH THE FAMOUS MANILA BAY SUNSET IN ROXAS BOULEVARD.

11. GO SEE MIDGET-BOXING
Thanks to Manny Pacquiao, the Philippines is foremost in the world boxing map; and thanks to  these midgets (political correctness aside), the country can be famous too for just the pure fun that boxing can bring! 


Where to catch it? Ringside Bar which is located at P Burgos corner Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City


* I just need to warn you that midgets boxing match are held in a girly bar. You need to call them first at 899 7106 and ask if there is a fight. If not, you will be waiting for nothing and surrounded by bar girls



12 Go sing in the Karaoke joints.
What most people don't know is that karaoke was invented here in the Philippines, singing, it is said, being the national past time. The are several karaoke places along Jupiter street, near Our Melting Pot Hostel which you can choose from.

  2. Manila really is a good place to stay. Everyone should try to visit it. There's a lot of foods to try and a lot of things to do in Manila. Anyway, Thanks for sharing!
